Purpose of this survey
The purpose of this survey is to gather views and experiences from residents of North Herefordshire about adult social care. The findings will inform Ellie Chowns MP’s representational and parliamentary work, including contributions to the cross-party Casey Commission on Adult Social Care. This survey is not linked to party political or campaigning activity.
How your data is collected, used and stored
When you fill out Ellie Chowns MP’s survey, you will be asked for some personal data to enable her and her office to understand who is responding to the survey.
Ellie Chowns MP will only use your data for the purposes in which she has requested it.
Ellie Chowns MP takes the security of your data extremely seriously. Your responses are collected securely via a parliamentary-approved survey platform QualtricsXM. Access to your personal data will be limited to Ellie Chowns MP and her staff. Responses will be analysed in aggregate and any examples used publicly will be anonymised so individuals cannot be identified. Data will never be shared with political parties or external campaign organisations.

- Postcode area or town/village name (to confirm residence within the constituency)
- Demographic details such as age band, gender, and ethnicity (optional)
- Information about experiences of adult social care, caring responsibilities, or work in the adult care sector
- Any free-text comments you choose to provide
The survey does not collect names, email addresses, or other direct identifiers.
Who will your data be shared with
When analysing the results of this survey, it may be necessary for Ellie Chowns MP and her office to share anonymised or aggregated findings with relevant public bodies, organisations, or independent commissions to support her parliamentary and policy work on adult social care.
These may include, but are not limited to:
- The House of Commons
- The Department of Health and Social Care
- Local authorities, including Herefordshire Council
- NHS England, Integrated Care Boards, and local healthcare providers
- Independent commissions and policy review bodies (for example, the Casey Commission on Social Care)
- Academic or research partners engaged in parliamentary evidence-gathering
Individual survey responses will not be shared in a form that identifies you. Any personal data collected will be held securely by Ellie Chowns MP’s office and used only for the purposes of analysis and reporting.
Other than in the circumstances listed above, Ellie Chowns MP will not share your personal data with other organisations or individuals without your explicit consent.
How long your data will be kept
Personal data, if any, will be kept only as long as necessary to analyse and report on survey findings, normally not exceeding 12 months after survey closure. After this period, data will be anonymised or securely deleted. Only aggregated results may be retained for future reference.
The legal basis for processing your data
Under UK GDPR, personal data can only be processed where there is a lawful basis. For this survey, processing is carried out under Article 6(1)(e) — Public Task — as it supports the performance of duties in the public interest.
Special Category Data
Some of the information you provide in this survey may include details classified as special category data under data protection law.
This may include information relating to your health, ethnicity, or other characteristics that reveal sensitive personal information.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), such data can only be processed where both a lawful basis under Article 6 and a specific condition for processing under Article 9 apply.
For the purposes of this survey, Ellie Chowns MP processes any special category data under:
- Article 9(2)(g) — processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest, and
- Schedule 1, paragraph 7(b) of the Data Protection Act 2018 — processing for parliamentary purposes.
