Most weeks, Ellie holds a surgery at a venue around the constituency.  As you would expect from the use of the word surgery, it’s a chance to have a face to face conversation with Ellie about a matter that you wish to raise.  Surgeries allow Ellie to gain a deeper understanding of how seriously an issue is impacting you personally or the community you live in, and explore ways in which the issue may be resolved or its impact reduced.

When you first make contact, though email, phone or in person, Ellie’s constituency team initially undertake work on your issue.  This route, through correspondence and conversations, may be more appropriate for you.

A reminder that the ways to contact Ellie’s office are:
Email: ellie.chowns.mp@parliament.uk
Tel: 01568 630065
In person: the office at 9 The Buttercross, Leominster HR6 8BN is staffed Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (aside from Bank Holidays; Christmas longer closure and occasional staff training days).

If you do request a surgery booking, and you have been corresponding by email, you’ll usually be sent some links which enable you to make the booking for a location and time that is convenient to you.  As mentioned above, we can make bookings over the phone or in person, but most people like to have the flexibility of finding a slot best suited to them through the links.

The upcoming Surgery locations and dates are:

Bromyard 26th April AM (this is a Saturday)
Dilwyn 2nd May PM
Wellington 9th May

At the start of the week of the surgery booking, you’ll be sent a reminder and the location of the surgery venue.  Surgery bookings are 20 minutes long.  Ellie will be accompanied by a caseworker who records the details that you share with Ellie while she listens.  After a surgery, you’ll receive confirmation in writing of the agreed actions that Ellie will undertake, and some recommendations for you too, if appropriate.

We provide access notes for the venues.  We also check if you need assistance with communication during the appointment or have any other adjustments you would like us to make.

Some examples of matters that Ellie hears about in her constituency surgeries include:

  • PIP delays
  • Educational provision for autistic children
  • Farmers’ concerns
  • Support for families with disabled children.
  • Changes to Council Tax
  • State pensions
  • NHS waiting times
