Demand for adult social care is rising across the UK, and North Herefordshire is no exception. In 2025 the government asked Baroness Louise Casey to chair an independent commission into adult social care to consider how best to meet this challenge.
Ellie participated in the first cross-party meeting of this commission in September 2025, pushing for urgent, sustainable solutions. From this initial participation, Ellie invited commission representatives to North Herefordshire to meet directly with care workers, service users, and unpaid carers. In preparation for this engagement, Ellie conducted a survey of constituents, listening events and outreach, and conversations with stakeholders.
Bringing together those voices of constituents of North Herefordshire, this study will be taken forward with the Casey Commission. Ellie has an ongoing commitment to the Commission and will be taking part in further cross party discussion in May 2026.
The aim of this study is to understand people’s experiences with adult social care (ASC) in North Herefordshire. Constituency studies such as this help identify problems and understand how things can be improved, to ensure the system works well for all those who need it.
