Ellie receives many approaches from people looking for work experience in her office or to volunteer, receiving far more requests than she can say yes to. Ellie hopes the experience of spending time with her office is enriching for those offering their time, and beneficial for the running of the office and her work. Therefore, please read the detail below before making a speculative approach, so that any application is timely and has the best chance of being considered. The first 4 sections are constituency based, working in the constituency office in Leominster, the last is based in Westminster. All work experience positions for 2026 are now filled. The information below is provided for reference for future opportunities and insight into the application processes.

Internships
Ellie recognises that internships/placements can be a valuable experience for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Different academic institutions have varying expectations of what a student is expected to achieve during an internship/placement. For some, this is a necessary part of a university course, for which academic credit is awarded. For others, the focus is more on the student being a contributing team member of a relevant workplace. Ellie’s office has welcomed students across both internship models.
Both types of internships are typically 3 months, on a 2 days per week basis, with the interns working in Ellie’s Westminster office.
For unpaid internships / placements, where interns attain academic credit for their undergraduate course, the focus is on providing an educational opportunity for the intern, though of course some work will be undertaken for the benefit of the office. Travel and lunch expenses will be paid.
For paid internships for postgraduate students, there is an expectation of a good level of professional performance and contribution to the work of Ellie’s office, as well as a commitment to providing developmental opportunities for the intern. These internships are paid the London Living Wage.
So far, Ellie has participated in internship / placement programmes run by the following universities: QMUL, LSE and the University of Hull.
