I went to a very moving film screening of ‘Someone’s Daughter, Someone’s Son’ recently hosted by Hereford City Rotary Club at The Courtyard Hereford to raise funds for two very worthwhile causes: The Living Room and Herefordshire Veteran Support Centre.
This powerful film, made by Lorna Tucker – who was herself once a teenage runaway sleeping rough on the streets of London – interviews current and former homeless people about why there are record numbers of people living on Britain’s streets.
The film calls for political action to change this, through creating more affordable social housing, providing wraparound support for people who are homeless, and expanding treatment for addiction and mental health – all of which I strongly support.
Thank you Hereford City Rotary Club for bringing this film to Hereford, and thank you to The Living Room and Herefordshire Veteran Support Centre for the amazing work you do to support people in our community who need a helping hand.
