As families across Britain continue to cope with freezing January temperatures, Ellie Chowns MP has expressed concern that the government has again delayed publication of the urgently needed Warm Homes Plan.

The Warm Homes Plan is intended to set out a comprehensive strategy for improving the energy efficiency of homes, tackling fuel poverty, and helping households afford to heat their homes. It is expected to include measures such as energy performance upgrades, support for low-income households, and steps towards making homes warmer and cheaper to run. However, publication has been postponed, prolonging uncertainty for millions of households living in cold, inefficient homes.

At least six million households in England currently live in fuel poverty -unable to afford adequate warmth without significant financial strain – and both campaigners and energy experts have emphasised the urgent need for a clear, well-funded plan to tackle this pressing issue.

Ellie Chowns said: “While families across Britain try to cope with freezing January temperatures, the government yet again puts off publication of the urgently needed Warm Homes Plan.
Six million households in England live in fuel poverty – we cannot wait any longer to tackle this issue.”

Ellie will continue to press for swift publication of a robust Warm Homes Plan that provides practical support for households and helps bring down energy costs.
