It was fantastic to be joined on the banks of the River Wye by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall today to announce the Green Party’s plan to restore our rivers. We tested the river for phosphate levels and were joined for a dip by local campaigners and wild swimmers. Our plan includes proper funding for the Environment Agency to give the regulator real teeth, taking water back into public hands and increasing funding to end the sewage scandal, a Water Protection Zone around the River Wye, and near tripling support for farmers to promote nature-friendly farming. Green MPs in Parliament will work tirelessly for the real action we need to restore our rivers.
